Summary
Dashboard event types help users monitor important system activity in near real time. Instead of reviewing all event history through Reports, operators can use the Dashboard to quickly identify current activity and status changes.
This article provides an overview for dashboard entity events and actions in OnCAFE.
OnCAFE Dashboard Overview
The OnCAFE dashboard displays supported entity events so operators can quickly understand recent system activity, device status changes, access events, and operational conditions across the organization.
The dashboard is intended to provide operational visibility into events that matter during daily monitoring. Not every internal event type appears on the dashboard. Some events may be available in Reports, Automation, WAVE, or Recent Activity instead.
Entity Event Types
Entity event types are system-generated events associated with specific OnCAFE entities, such as doors, elevators, controllers, input groups, output groups, areas, locations, and panels. These events help users monitor what is happening in the system without needing to immediately run a report or review deeper event history. Each event includes an internal event code and a user-facing label.
The following entity types include events that appear on the dashboard:
| Entity Event Type | Description |
| Area | Events related to First Person In (FPI) activity or ignored FPI conditions. These events help operators identify when FPI-related activity occurs within a configured area. |
| Controller | Events related to controller connectivity, firmware upgrade, Cloud Connector status, power fail, battery, tamper, and Fire Alarm Interface (FAI) status. These events are especially important for identifying device health issues, communication changes, and hardware-related conditions. |
| Door | Events related to access, door position, lock state, reader status, forced door, held door, maintenance mode, and Multifactor Authentication (MFA). These events are some of the most commonly reviewed dashboard events because they directly relate to access control activity and door state. |
| Elevator | Events related to access, floor access, reader status, maintenance mode, floor secured or unsecured state, and elevator online/offline status. These events are useful for confirming access activity, floor use, and elevator reader status. |
| Input Group | Events related to input group activation, deactivation, trigger, trouble, shunt, and online/offline state. These events help users monitor grouped inputs such as intrusion zones, monitored areas, or configured input logic. |
| Location | Events related to lockdown being enabled or disabled. These events are important because lockdown state changes can affect multiple doors, elevators, or areas within a location. |
| Output Group | Events related to output group activation, deactivation, shunt, and online/offline state. These events help users confirm when grouped outputs activate, deactivate, or change state. |
| Panel | Events related to panel connected or disconnected status. These events help identify whether panel communication status has changed. |
| Alarm | Some alarm events may be available in Reports or Automation, but not all alarm events display on the dashboard. |
Dashboard-Supported Actions
Actions are different from events. An event is something that has occurred. An action is something a user or system can perform via the OnCAFE Web UI.
Examples of dashboard-supported actions include:
| Entity Type | Action Label |
| Alarm | Acknowledge Alarm |
| Alarm | Trigger Alarm |
| Door | Momentary Unlock |
| Door | Enable Maintenance Mode |
| Door | Disable Maintenance Mode |
| Elevator | Momentary Unlock |
| Elevator | Enable Maintenance Mode |
| Elevator | Disable Maintenance Mode |
| Input | Shunt IO |
| Input | Unshunt IO |
| Input Group | Activate Group |
| Input Group | Deactivate Group |
| Location | Trigger Lockdown |
| Location | Release Lockdown |
| Output | Shunt IO |
| Output | Unshunt IO |
| Output Group | Activate Group |
| Output Group | Deactivate Group |
Reviewing Dashboard Events
To review Dashboard events:
- Log in to OnCAFE.
- In the navigation bar on the left, click Dashboard.
- Select the Entity Type (such as Door, Elevator, Controller, or Input Group).
- Review Events to determine if action is required.
- Use Reports if historical detail is needed.
- Use Automation if the Event Type is supported as an automation trigger.
- Follow internal response procedures for access denied, forced door, lockdown, power, tamper, or offline events.
