Summary
Auto-enrollment allows an administrator to assign a physical card credential to an identity by presenting the card to a selected reader. Instead of manually entering the card number and facility code, OnCAFE listens for the card read from the selected door reader and automatically captures the credential information.
This article explains how to auto-enroll a physical card credential to an existing identity in OnCAFE.
Prerequisite
Before auto-enrolling a physical credential:
- You must be logged in to OnCAFE with the required privileges.
- The identity must be created or already exist in OnCAFE.
- The physical card must be available.
- The card format must be supported by the organization.
- The reader must be online and associated with a door in OnCAFE.
- The site must have a supported reader configured and available for enrollment.
Auto-Enrolling a Physical Credential
To auto-enroll a physical credential:
- Log in to OnCAFE as a user with the required privileges.
- From the left-side navigation menu, select Identity > Identities
- Select the desired identity.
- Click the Cardholder details tab to confirm the identity profile opens.
- Click Create credential and select Physical.
- In the New physical card window, click Auto-Enroll.

In the Auto-enroll physical card window, select the door reader that will be used to scan the card. Then, select the correct Location, Area, and Door from the drop-down list.
NOTE: Auto-enrollment requires a reader that is online and available in OnCAFE. - Click Next.

When the system displays Awaiting scan, present the physical card to the selected reader.
IMPORTANT: The card must be presented to the same reader selected during
the auto-enrollment process.If the card is not detected, confirm the selected reader is online and the card format is supported.
If the wrong credential information is captured, click Retry scan and present the correct card.
- Confirm the Card number and Facility code populate in the New physical card window.
- Review the Activation dates section.
- (Optional) Enable Schedule start date if the Wallet credential should become active at a future date or enable Schedule deactivation date if the Wallet credential should automatically expire on a specific date.

Click Create.
NOTE: The Create button remains disabled until the required credential
information is captured or entered. - Confirm the message displays that the credential was created successfully.
- Confirm the physical card appears in the identity's Credentials section.
Creating a credential does not automatically grant access. The identity must also have valid access permissions assigned.
