Summary
Near Field Communication (NFC) / Wallet credentials allow a user to add a supported Wavelynx Wallet mobile pass to Google Wallet and use an Android device as an NFC-based access credential.
After OnCAFE issues the NFC/Wallet credential, the user must activate the pass from the OnCAFE mobile app and add it to Google Wallet before using it at supported readers.
This article provides instructions on claiming an NFC/Wallet credential on Android.
Prerequisites
Before claiming an NFC/Wallet credential on Android:
- The user must have the OnCAFE mobile app installed.
- The user must be able to log in to the OnCAFE mobile app.
- A Wavelynx Wallet credential must already be issued to the identity in OnCAFE.
- The credential must be within the configured activation date range.
- The user must have a supported Android device.
- Google Wallet must be installed and available on the device.
- NFC must be enabled on the Android device.
- The site must have supported NFC/Wallet readers installed and configured.
Claiming an NFC/Wallet Credential on Android
To claim an NFC/Wallet credential on Android:
- Open the OnCAFE mobile app on the Android device.
- (If prompted) Log in to the OnCAFE mobile app using the account associated with the issued credential.
- From the bottom navigation menu, click Profile.
- Click Mobile Passes.
- Locate the pending Wavelynx Wallet credential.
The credential may display the following information:
Pending Activation
Wavelynx Wallet
NFC
Start date
Credential ID
- If the credential does not appear under Mobile Passes, verify that it was issued to the correct identity and user account in OnCAFE.
- Select the pending Wavelynx Wallet credential.
On the activation screen, click Activate Pass.
Wait for the activation process to complete.IMPORTANT: This step must be complete before adding the pass to Google Wallet.- Wait while the device connects to Google Wallet.
- Review the badge information then click Accept & Continue.
- Confirm the badge displays Added to Wallet.
Google Wallet may display the credential as a corporate badge.
- Click View in Wallet and confirm the credential is available in Google Wallet.
- Return to the OnCAFE mobile app.
- Confirm the Wavelynx Wallet credential displays as Active under Mobile Passes.
- Test the credential at a supported NFC/Wallet reader and confirm access is granted or denied as expected.
NFC must be enabled for the credential to function at supported readers. Access is granted if the credential is active and the identity has valid access permissions assigned.
