Applies to: OnCAFE platform intelligent controllers
Summary
Once the Intelligent Controller has been enrolled into OnCAFE, it must be configured to support input/output behavior, reader protocols, and firmware update schedules. This article provides configuration instructions for the Controllers section in OnCAFE.
Configuring Intelligent Controllers
To configure an intelligent controller:
- Log in to OnCAFE.
- In the navigation bar on the left, click Devices > Controllers.
- Select the desired controller.
- View/Edit the Controller Name and assigned Location.
- Review Model and MAC Address, then usage and availability for Doors, Elevators, I/Os, Readers, etc. to ensure you are operating with the correct controller.
- Toggle Auto Update for both the Cloud Connector and the Device Firmware to ON.
-
Choose Day and Time for scheduled firmware refresh.
These settings ensure the controller stays updated automatically without manual intervention within desired windows of time.
- Click the Interfaces tab.
This tab allows configuration of physical input/output behavior and reader support.
- Configure Inputs.
Contact Type – select either Normally Open or Normally Closed
Debounce Time – set to prevent false triggers
Supervision – enable if tamper detection is needed
Resistance Level – select 1K/2K
- Configure lock relays and auxiliary outputs under the Outputs tab.
Reverse Sense - inverts the output contact’s active resting state
NOTE: The reverse sense capability inverts the active resting
state of the output contact, but it only functions when the
device is powered on. It does not affect the resting state of
the relay if power is removed from the controllers or panels. - Configure Readers.
Reader ports (e.g., READER 1-0, READER 1-1) support both Wiegand and OSDP. The reader type is automatically detected, so no manual protocol selection is needed.
For Wiegand – there are no settings to configure
For OSDP, set the following:
Address – selection depends on Controller/Panels capabilities
Baud Rate – select 9600, 19200.38400, or 115200
Secure Channel – either enable/disabled
NOTE: These settings need to match the Readers settings. - Use the Controller Preview pane to confirm all wiring assignments and hardware roles in real time.
IMPORTANT: If the reader port you are adjusting is currently
applied to an Entity, the Reader will become disassociated with
the Entity requiring the Reader to be reapplied to the Entity.
