Applies to: ConfigPro
Summary
ConfigPro is designed to operate when the server version is equal to or higher than the client version. Although it is best to keep both components on the same version, compatibility issues may occur when the server version is lower than the client version.
This article describes the current behavior of ConfigPro v1.1.1 and earlier releases, along with known issues and update procedures.
Issues may occur when the ConfigPro client version is newer than the ConfigPro server version. As a general rule, the server version must be equal to or higher than the client version for ConfigPro to operate properly.
Version Compatibility Behavior
| Scenario | Expected Behavior |
|---|---|
| Client version = Server version | Operates normally without any issues. |
| Server version > Client version | Operates normally. However, available functionality is limited to the feature set supported by the client version. |
| Server version < Client version | Features may not operate correctly, resulting in unexpected behavior or functionality limitations. |
When the server version is lower than the client version, users may experience one or more of the following symptoms:
- Certain features do not function as expected.
- Configuration changes fail to apply correctly.
- Inconsistent behavior between client and server components.
- Unexpected errors when accessing features introduced in newer client versions.
Although users may still be able to log in, proper operation is not guaranteed until the server is updated to a version that is equal to or higher than the client version.
Verifying Installed Versions
Before troubleshooting feature-related issues, verify that the server and client versions meet the compatibility requirements. To verify the installed versions:
- Open the ConfigPro Client.
- Click the Information icon in the upper-right corner of the application window.
- In the Software Information window, review the displayed Client and Server versions.
Compare the versions using the compatibility guidelines below:
- Client version = Server version: Operates normally.
- Server version > Client version: Operates normally; functionality is limited to the client version's feature set.
- Server version < Client version: Compatibility issues may occur and certain features may not function properly.
NOTE: If the server version is lower than the client version, update the server before proceeding with further troubleshooting.
Updating the ConfigPro Server
To ensure proper operation, update the ConfigPro server to the latest available version.
NOTE: For ConfigPro v1.1.1 and earlier, server updates must be performed locally
through the system tray application installed on the server.
To update the server:
- Log in to the server computer.
- Locate the ConfigPro system tray application by clicking the Show hidden icons (^) button in the Windows taskbar notification area.
- Select the ConfigPro system tray icon and click Check for Updates.
- Click Yes to complete the update and reboot the server if prompted.
- After the update is complete, reconnect using the ConfigPro client and verify normal operation.
