Summary
ConfigPro is recommended to be deployed on a dedicated server to ensure predictable performance, scalability, and operational isolation, particularly in enterprise and multi-site deployments. However, ConfigPro has a minimal resource footprint during idle operation, typically consuming less than 500 MB of memory and under 1% CPU on Intel i7 10th Gen processors.
For small deployments with low camera counts and sufficient hardware resources, ConfigPro may be deployed alongside other server applications, including a VMS server. This article details how to run ConfigPro with a VMS server.
Running ConfigPro with a VMS Server
The following conditions must be met when running ConfigPro on the same server as a VMS:
- CPU
o Intel i7 (10th Gen or higher) or server-class CPU
o Sustained CPU headroom of 25–40% or greater - Memory
o Sufficient RAM headroom (6–8 GB or greater available) - Storage
o SSD storage for both the operating system and ConfigPro application - Network
o Network interface of 1 Gbps or higher
o Average network utilization below 60% - Deployment Scope
o Single-site deployment
o Low camera count (fewer than 32 devices) - Analytics and Transcoding Load (Minimal)
o Average bitrate below 6 Mbps per camera
o Total aggregate bitrate below 200 Mbps
o Majority of cameras operating at resolutions below 4 MP
o No continuous or high-complexity analytics or transcoding workloads - User Concurrency
o Fewer than 2 concurrent users - Operational Considerations
o Schedule resource-intensive tasks such as firmware upgrades during off-hours
