Summary
Before enrolling any controllers into the OnCAFE platform, it is required to pre-configure Locations and Areas. This article outlines the process for creating a new location within the OnCAFE system.
IMPORTANT: Your organization must be registered prior to performing
the steps in this article.Creating Locations
To create a location:
- Log in to OnCAFE with Administrator or Advanced Role Privileges.
- From the navigation bar on the left, select System > Locations & Areas.
- Click Create Location.
- Enter required location details.
Location Name – descriptive name of the physical site
Timezone – select the appropriate time zone for local scheduling
Address – full physical address of the location
Location Contact – assign an identity as the primary contact (optional)
Description – additional notes or purpose context (optional)
- Click Create to finalize and save the new location.
Creating a New Area
To create a new area:
- From the navigation bar on the left, select System > Locations & Areas, then click List View.
- Use the search box to find the location.
- Next to the desired location, click Setup Areas.
- Click Create Area.
- Enter the area information.
Area Name – name that represents the space or section (required)
Description – notes about the purpose of the area (optional)
- In the Assign Doors to this Area section, use the search box or click Add All to add doors.
- Click the orange Plus icon next to the door(s) you want to include.
Once added, the door(s) appear on the right side of the screen.
- Click Next.
- In the Unlock Schedules section, click Set Schedule (optional, but recommended).
- Choose from Default or Preconfigured schedules. If no schedule is selected, the doors will remain locked 24/7.
- Review your configuration and click Create to save the new area.
IMPORTANT:
Areas can be edited or removed anytime from the Locations & Areas menu.
Schedules control when doors in the area unlock automatically.
Entities can belong to Multiple Areas.
Currently there is no nesting Areas inside Areas.
