Applies to: OnCAFE, NOP-IC2, Azure IC2 controllers
Summary
Azure controller firmware may be downloaded from the Hanwha Vision product page as a compressed ZIP file. Before uploading the firmware to the controller, extract the ZIP file and create a TAR file containing the required firmware files.
This article explains how to download the firmware ZIP file, extract the required files, and create a TAR file for firmware uploads.
Prerequisites
Before converting the firmware package:
- Access to the Hanwha Vision product firmware download page.
- Use a Windows computer that supports creating TAR files from File Explorer or another approved archive utility.
- Verify you are downloading the correct firmware package.
- Confirm that the firmware package contains the following files: key, signature, and update.
Downloading a Firmware ZIP File
To download the firmware ZIP file:
- Open a web browser.
- Navigate to the Hanwha Vision product page for the NOP-IC2 controller.
- Click the Firmware tab.
- Locate the required firmware version, then click Download.
- Verify the firmware downloads as a compressed ZIP file and note its saved location.
Converting a ZIP File
To convert a firmware ZIP file to a TAR file:
- Locate the downloaded firmware ZIP file on your computer.
- Right-click the ZIP file and extract the contents.
- Open the extracted firmware folder.
- Open the additional firmware folder inside the extracted folder.
-
Select the required files: key, signature, and update
IMPORTANT:
Do NOT select the parent folder. The TAR file must contain
the firmware files directly and not an additional nested folder.
Do NOT rename, edit, or remove the key, signature, or update files
before creating the TAR file. - Right-click the selected files, then select Compress to.... > TAR File.
Windows creates the new TAR file.
- Confirm the newly created file appears in the folder.
- Verify the new archive was created as a TAR file.
- Use the newly created TAR file when uploading firmware to the Azure controller.
NOTES: Do NOT upload the original ZIP file if the controller update process
requires a TAR file. The controller will reject the update if the wrong
file type is uploaded. The controller may reject the update if the TAR
file contains the wrong folder structure.
