Applies to: NOP-IC2 intelligent controller
Summary
This article provides instructions for connecting RS-485-based OSDP readers to the NOP-IC2 controller using ports TB11 and TB12.
NOTE: Each OSDP reader must be configured with a unique address per reader port.
Refer to the reader manufacturer for information.
Use daisy-chain wiring when connecting multiple readers. Reader Ports Overview
- Reader Ports: TB11 and TB12
- Supported Reader Type: RS-485 (OSDP)
- Reader Capacity: Up to 2 OSDP readers total per port
- Wiring Topology: Daisy-chain required for more than one reader
Terminal Pinout (TB11/TB12)
| Pin | Label | RS-485 Function |
| 1 | GND | Ground |
| 2 | DAT/D0 | RS-485 – (B) |
| 3 | CLK/D1 | RS-485 + (A) |
| 6 | RVO | Reader Power (+VDC) |
NOTE: BZR (Pin 4/Buzzer) and LED (Pin 5/Green LED) are NOT used for OSDP readers.Power Jump Setting (J5)
| Voltage Mode | J5 Setting | Description |
| VIN passthrough | Default (open) | Supplies input voltage directly to RVO |
| Regulated 12VDC output | Set to 12V | Requires VIN ≥ 20VDC to regulate down to 12VDC |
Connecting the OSDP Reader
Use the following scheme to connect each OSDP reader to TB11 or TB12:
Cable Guidelines and Daisy-Chaining
- Minimum Wire Size: 24 AWG
- Cable Type: Shielded twisted pair recommended
- Topology: Daisy-chain for multiple readers
- Max RS-485 Bus Length: ~4000 feet total
- Termination: Apply end-of-line termination if required by system design
IMPORTANT: Ensure all devices on the same RS-485 line share a common ground
and have non-overlapping addresses.
