Summary

This article explains how to identify the NHP Controller IP address, log in to the controller, configure the date and time, and configure the network settings required for communication with OnCAFE.

Identifying the IP Address

When the NHP Controller starts, it attempts to obtain an IP address through DHCP. If successful, the device automatically appears on the network.

To identify the NHP IP Address:

1. Use a network scanning tool such as Wisenet Device Manager, or any trusted IP scanner. 

   Wisenet Device Manager provides the quickest way to locate the NHP IP address on DHCP-enabled networks.
    

2. Check the MAC address printed on the product label.
   
   If no DHCP server is present, the controller defaults to the following:
   
   
   
   To access the controller in this mode, configure your workstation on the same subnet (e.g., 192.168.1.50 / 255.255.255.0).

Logging in to the Controller

To log in to the controller: 

1. Launch a web browser and enter the controller’s IP address. 
    
2. Create the new password per the guidelines listed, then click Apply.
   
   
    
3. Refresh the page, and log in as an admin with updated credentials.
   
   

Configuring Date and Time

To ensure proper log timestamps and scheduled functions, configure the date and time. 

To configure the date and time: 

1. Select Basic > Date & Time. 
   
   
    
2. Enter/confirm the following settings: 
   
   Time Zone: Match your local time (e.g., GMT–05:00 Eastern Time US & Canada)
   
   Enable Daylight Saving Time (DST)
   
   System Time Options: Select Manual Time Entry, Sync with PC Viewer, or Sync with NTP Server

Configuring IP Address and Ports

To enable Cloud communication with the OnCAFE platform:

1. Confirm that the controller has a valid static or dynamic IP.
    

2. Confirm that the controller has outbound access to ports 80 (HTTP) and 443 (HTTPS).

   No other port forwarding is required.

   
   

If your network does not support DHCP:

1. Assign a static IP that is routable and internet-connected.
    
2. Confirm that firewall policies allow outbound HTTP/HTTPS traffic.
    
3. Select Basic > IP & Port.
    
4. In the IP Type drop-down, select Manual.
    
5. Enter the following fields:
   
   IP Address: Match your network range
   Subnet Mask
   Default Gateway: Typically your router address
   DNS 1 / DNS 2: Public or internal DNS (e.g., 8.8.8.8, 192.168.1.1) 
   Host Name: Optional
   MTU: Leave the default value (1500)
   ICMP: Keep enabled for ping/troubleshooting
   
   
    
6. Click Apply. 
    
7. Allow the controller to reboot, if prompted.
