Applies to: BLAZE
Summary
BLAZE can receive alarm inputs and trigger relay outputs on cameras. The SPM-4210 network I/O box expands the number of available I/O ports and provides greater installation design flexibility.
For example, when an outdoor camera is wired to a door, the wires could be shorted, causing the door to unlock. Using the SPM-4210 keeps the wiring inside the physical building.
Similarly, a school classroom panic button would normally be hardwired to a classroom camera, such as a fisheye camera mounted in the center of the ceiling. Instead, a short wire can connect the panic button to a conveniently located PoE-powered SPM-4210 module. Multiple panic buttons can also share the inputs on a single SPM-4210 module.
This article explains how to expand the number of available I/O ports using the SPM-4210 network I/O box.
Expanding I/O Ports
To expand I/O ports:
- Log in to the web page for the SPM-4210. If this is a factory reset unit, set an admin password.
- In the left side navigation panel, navigate to Basic > IP & Port and assign a static IP address.
- Log in to the web page for the camera whose I/O ports you want to expand.
- In the left side navigation panel, navigate to Settings > Event > I/O box.
- Next to I/O box, check Enable.
- In the I/O box setup section, enter the I/O box device details.
- Check whether to enable External alarm I/O and/or External audio I/O, then click Apply.
As needed, you can configure the inputs/outputs on the Alarm I/O page.
The Status shows as Connected when the camera is successfully connected to the I/O box.
The additional I/O ports are now visible within the camera web page and within BLAZE, ready to be configured.
