Summary
This article explains what to consider when installing Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) previously used in anther device.
HDD Considerations
HDD configuration affects disk recognition and recording availability.
IMPORTANT: When adding or replacing an HDD, ensure the power is turned off. When installing a new HDD, the system automatically formats the drive during boot and prepares it for immediate use.
HDDs previously used in the same model can be used without automatic formatting, but existing playback data may remain intact and persist (other data remains unchanged). To use them for playback, re-register the HDD with the same camera. If you do not need this data, manually format the drive.
For HDDs previously used in other models, the system automatically formats the drive during boot. To preserve existing recorded data, add the HDD to an Appliance with the same model name.
IMPORTANT: Proper preparation helps ensure the storage is recognized correctly
and prevents recording issues. Initialize, reformat, or reconfigure the HDD
according to the product manual before using it for recording.
To install an existing HDD into another Appliance and continue using it for playback, install the HDD into the same model and re-register it with the same camera.
