Summary
A BLAZE embedded appliance can be soft factory reset while logged in to the BLAZE desktop client, following which you can restore from a backup to recover recordings. If you are unable to log in, a hard factory reset option is available but which destroys all recordings.

Resetting a BLAZE Embedded Appliance
Soft Factory Reset
WARNING: Although storage will not be deleted, you need to restore operation
to access video data after a soft factory reset. Video data and audit logs will
be preserved.
NOTE: This operation can only be completed on-site.
To perform a soft factory reset:
- Navigate to Settings > Backup and restore
- Select Backup now
- Navigate to Settings > Servers > [Server] > Maintenance
- Select Reset to factory defaults or Reset to factory defaults (except network parameters)
- You will need direct access to the appliance, keyboard, mouse, and monitor to perform the initial setup of the reset appliance.
- If required, restore by going to System > Backup and Restore and selecting Restore from a file.
Hard Factory Reset
WARNING: All settings and recordings will be deleted.NOTE: This operation can only be performed on-site.
To perform a hard factory reset:
- Power on the BLAZE appliance and connect it to a local monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
- Insert a pointed object into the reset port on the rear of the machine.
- Press and hold the button until a message appears on the local monitor.
- Confirm to continue.
After the reset, the appliance reboots and requires initial setup, which requires direct access to the appliance, keyboard, mouse, and monitor. You may restore the appliance settings from a manual backup, but recorded video will remain lost.
