Applies to: BLAZE
Issue Summary
All BLAZE Recording Appliances prioritize recording continuity above all else. When the system experiences excessive load, it may temporarily reduce image resolution or framerate to maintain uninterrupted recording.
Possible Scenarios
A drop in resolution or framerate may occur in the following situations:
- When more than four cameras are viewed locally, the secondary stream is used
- When CPU usage exceeds 90% for longer than 10 seconds, the framerate drops to 1 FPS
- On the BLAZE hardened OS Recording Appliances (BRB-X16 and BRB-X32), when more than 23 channels are viewed locally, the framerate drops to 1 FPS
- On all other BLAZE hardened OS Recording Appliances (BRR-X and BRR-P), when more than 29 channels are viewed locally, the framerate drops to 1 FPS
NOTE: Creating multiple cropped views or using fisheye and panoramic cameras
increases system load because the entire stream is being decoded multiple times.
Resolution
To decrease the load on a BLAZE Recording Appliance, consider:
- Using a dedicated client workstation
- Reducing the number of streams viewed on a local monitor
- The system can change to the secondary profile automatically, or you can manually select it to lower the CPU demand on the unit
- If using dual local monitors, cloning them uses less effort than extended mode
- Minimizing the number of cropped views, especially on a local monitor for fisheye and panoramic cameras
- Using a PC workstation for viewing as it has significantly lower impact on an appliance performance
