Applies to: BLAZE
Summary
Dealers and End Users can evaluate BLAZE for free using onboarding licenses included with each fresh server installation or by requesting trial licenses from a Hanwha Vision sales representative. This article explains the ways to evaluate BLAZE, outlines important licensing rules, and provides examples of how many trial license keys different system sizes require.
NOTE: BLAZE appliances do not require licenses.Evaluating BLAZE
BLAZE offers two free evaluation options:
- Each fresh install of a BLAZE server includes five 30-day onboarding licenses.
- 30-day trial licenses available on request.
NOTE: You can still scan, add cameras, and view cameras live even without licenses,
but you cannot start recording until you apply a license.
Understanding Licensing Rules
- Only server-connected devices require licensing.
- Clients are not licensed. You can connect unlimited desktop clients, mobile apps, and web browser connections.
- The 30-day countdown for both onboarding and trial licenses begins when you apply the first license to the first camera.
- You can stack trial license keys if you need more than 30 days for evaluation.
- Each license key supports a specific number of channels.
- Each system (typically a site) requires its own license key.
- Systems with multiple servers only need licenses for recording cameras, regardless of which server they record to.
- Applying trial licenses disables onboarding licenses.
Determining License Requirements
Trial license keys each support a set number of channels. Most devices use one channel license, with the following exceptions:
- 1 license for all Hanwha IP cameras, including multi-sensors, panoramic, PTZ, and bi-spectrum models (regardless of the number of channels)
- 1 license for every 8 NVR channels
- 1 license for every 4 encoders and ONVIF multi-channel devices
- 1 license for every 4 IP audio devices
EXAMPLE 1 – Small Single-server Lab Setup
A user has a single server with a few cameras and other devices to test with BLAZE.
A single trial license key supporting more channels than needed, such as 20, would suffice.
EXAMPLE 2 – Small-Medium Multi-site Setup
A user has 5 sites, each with one BLAZE recorder running 8–16 cameras.
5 trial license keys supporting more channels than are needed, such as 20, would suffice.
EXAMPLE 3 – Multi-site Multi-server Setup
A user has 10 sites of varying sizes, each with 1–3 recorders. Each site counts as one system and includes 50–150 cameras across its recorders at that site.
10 trial license keys, each supporting more channels than are needed, such as 200, would suffice.
The number of servers at a given site is irrelevant. Only the channel count at a system (site) is important.
