Summary
This article explains how to configure BLAZE and compatible cameras to recover from temporary network outages.
During a network outage, there could be gaps in the archives on BLAZE recorders. Assuming the cameras are still powered and configured to temporarily record to Edge storage, BLAZE can be configured to fill in the missing gaps once the connection resumes. For automatic backup recovery, BLAZE uses SUNAPI for Hanwha Vision devices, and ONVIF G for other devices.
NOTE: Cameras will record to their Edge storage continuously. Follow the
manufacturer’s guidelines on selecting Edge storage that can sustain such
activity and minimize the risk of card failures and needing to physically
replace them.
How it Works
After configuring edge storage, BLAZE shows progress as it retrieves video and fills gaps in the server’s archive following a network disruption. The recovery time depends on factors such as outage duration, video bitrate, network bandwidth, and server load.
Using Edge Storage Backup
To recover from network disruptions using SUNAPI:
- Insert a compatible storage card into the camera.
- Log in to BLAZE.
- Click the Settings icon, then select Devices.
- Click the Edge Storage tab, then toggle Enable storage backup to ON.
- If prompted, click Format storage to reformat the card.
For Non-Hanwha Vision Devices
To recover from network disruptions using ONVIF G:
- Insert a compatible storage card into the camera.
- Log in to BLAZE.
- Click the Settings icon, then select Devices.
- Use the camera’s web page or follow the manufacturer’s tools and guidelines to reformat the storage.
- In BLAZE, select the device from the displayed list.
- Click the Edge Storage tab, then toggle Enable storage backup to ON.
