Summary
Cameras that record directly to the Cloud require a minimum amount of upstream bandwidth to ensure all video is processed and recorded to the Cloud. Not having enough upload bandwidth to support Camera recording to the Cloud can result in recording gaps.
This article provides instructions to calculate the minimum bandwidth requirements for a site using the OnCloud bandwidth Calculator.
Calculating Minimum Bandwidth
To ensure there is enough bandwidth on your Camera network to support consistent recording to the Cloud, you must calculate the minimum bandwidth requirements for a site using the OnCloud bandwidth Calculator.
To calculate the minimum bandwidth requirements:
- Log in to Cloud Portal.
- Navigate to OnCloud.
-
Click the Dashboard icon.
- Click Tools > Bandwidth Estimate.
The estimate appears.
- Adjust the calculator to match the camera configuration at the Location.
-
Review the bandwidth estimate on the right.
NOTE: It is not necessary to save the estimate.
Click Save to keep the estimate for future reference. - Confirm there is enough upload bandwidth allocated to your Camera network based on the minimum bandwidth calculated for your site.
- Consider adjusting video settings including bandwidth and frame rate to reduce the amount of bandwidth required for upload.
