Summary

This article describes how to configure the side motion camera and events based on analytics.

Configuring the Side Motion Camera

To configure the side motion camera: 

1. In the Management Client, select the Events tab.
    
2. Click Add.
    
3. Add both Motion Started (HW) and Motion Stopped (HW).
    
4. Check the box Show already added events. 
   
   
    
5. Click the Event. 
    
6. Click OK.
    
7. Select the Motion Window drop-down menu in the General pane. Repeat as necessary. 

Creating a New Rule for Motion Recording

To create a new rule for motion recording: 

1. On an Event, select Devices > Configurable Events > Motion Started (HW).
   
   

2. Select the device or group to use camera side motion. 

   NOTE: Conditions can be left blank if this is 24/7 other wise set conditions as needed.

3. Start recording the device or device group as needed. 

4. If pre-recording is desired, enter a negative seconds value immediately.

   IMPORTANT: Do not make this too high, as the server has to cache the video 
   for that amount of time.

   Stop criteria automatically appears as Motion Stopped (HW). 

5. Stop recording is the time it receives the Motion Stopped event from the camera. Set a post event record time if needed.

Creating Events Based on Analytics

Analytic events are created the same way as Motion Detection.

1. In the Events tab, select the analytic to use and enable it along with which window or line.
   
   
2. Create your rule (see Creating a New Rule for Motion Recording) and use the analytic as the action. 
   

   NOTE: Motion is unique in that it has a Start and Stop event. Other 
   analytics do not, they simply send the trigger at the beginning and 
   that is it.
