Issue Summary
TeamViewer may experience session issues when running in Wayland (a Linux display protocol).
These issues commonly present with one or more of the following symptoms:
- You cannot see the server screen when starting a TeamViewer session.
- You cannot control the server during a TeamViewer session, even though you have the appropriate permissions.
Resolution
Switching from Wayland to Xorg (an alternative Linux display protocol) may resolve these issues.
To switch from Wayland to Xorg:
- In upper right-hand corner of the desktop, select the Power icon.
- Select Power Off / Log Out from the drop-down menu.
- Select Log Out. The login screen displays a single user named wave.
- Select the wave user so the password prompt appears.
- With the password prompt displayed, select the Gear icon in lower right-hand corner.
- From the context menu, select Ubuntu on Xorg.
- Login to the wave user as normal.
- Launch TeamViewer and verify that the session runs normally.
