Issue Summary

The host machine has a working network connection, but cannot connect to the internet from the virtual operating system. This article describes how to correct the issue of no outside connection on a VMware workstation.

Resolution

If the host machine has a working connection but cannot connect to the internet, confirm that the host machine's firewall is not blocking the internet access.

1. Temporarily turn off the firewall on the host machine and check the situation. 
   
   If the connection to the internet is active, than the VMware application has to be added to the firewall exceptions.
   
   
    
2. Reinstate the firewall protection.
