Summary

Customers may want to paint a camera to better blend with the surrounding environment, depending on the building's color, finish, and other factors. This article provides guidelines regarding painting a Hanwha camera.

IMPORTANT: Hanwha Vision does not provide camera painting services. 
Customers who require a custom color will need to use a qualified 
third-party provider.

Prerequisites

Painting requires careful preparation to protect camera performance, product identification, and service eligibility.

Before painting a camera:

• Protect the serial number label. Do not paint over, remove, or make the label unreadable.
   
• Protect optical components, infrared LEDs, and air-vent membranes. Completely protect optical components, infrared LEDs, and air-vent membranes from paint, overspray, dust, and preparation residue.
   

• Use care when disassembling the camera. If component removal is needed, use a qualified installer and follow the applicable product instructions.

  IMPORTANT: Review the applicable product instructions before 
  disassembling the camera. Improper disassembly or painting may 
  damage the camera or affect its waterproofing.

Painting Guidelines

When preparing and painting the camera:

• Avoid lacquer and heavy solvent-based paints. Thinning agents in products such as Krylon may react with the factory powder coating and cause bubbling.
   
• Use a compatible outdoor coating. Choose an acrylic enamel or polyurethane spray paint designed for outdoor metal and plastic surfaces, such as Rust-Oleum enamel.
   
• Prepare the surface lightly. Scuff the factory coating with a fine Scotch-Brite pad or 220-grit-or-finer sandpaper. Wipe the surface with isopropyl alcohol and allow it to dry completely.

• Apply light coats. Use multiple light coats and allow adequate drying time between coats in accordance with the paint manufacturer's instructions.

IMPORTANT: Before returning the camera to service, confirm that all 
protected components are clean, unobstructed, and functioning normally.

Cameras with Skin Covers

An alternative to painting the entire camera is to use a skin cover, when available. Skin covers allow the exterior color to be changed without painting or disassembling the camera and can be repainted separately.

Warranty and Service

The standard product warranty remains in effect after painting unless a camera defect is determined to have been caused by the painting process.

Painted cameras are not eligible for Advance Replacement service. Repair services remain available under the applicable warranty terms.

If a painted camera requires replacement, the replacement camera is provided in the standard factory color.
