Older End-of-Life (EOL) Samsung/Hanwha NVRs run sluggishly when third-party cameras are registered, resulting in a slow and unresponsive user interface. Registration of third-party cameras via the ONVIF protocol consumes more CPU resources than the more efficient Wisenet protocol. This is due to errors in the third-party manufacturer's ONVIF code for event transmission. As a result, the Mouse pointer becomes sluggish and overall reaction times on the NVR are slower, making use of the NVR user interface more difficult.
Resolution
To resolve this issue:
- Turn off receiving events from third-party cameras.
- Log in to the NVR.
- Navigate to Device > Camera > Camera Registration.
- Go to the lower left and click ONVIF Setup.
- Click the Event tab.
- Find /VideoSource/MotionAlarm and change the NVR-supported events drop-down menu to None.
- Click OK at the bottom of the ONVIF Setup screen.
- Click OK at the bottom of the Camera registration screen.
- Repeat these steps for every third-party camera.
Motion Detection for these cameras will no longer be possible.
- Change the recording schedule to Continuous Recording.
