HDD Upgrade Guidance - Wisenet NVR (4TB to 8TB) Without Losing Data
Hello,
I am currently using a Wisenet NVR with a 4TB HDD and would like to upgrade to an 8TB HDD. Could you kindly provide guidance on how we can replace the current hard drive without losing any data? Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeelani

Hi Jeelani,
Thank you for your enquiry.
The other thing to note is to make sure that the NVR actually supports a bigger HDD due to is power consumption and that it's compatible.
Here is an article from our support portal that will advise the maximum HDD size if you are to proceed replacing your HDD.
https://support.hanwhavision.com/hc/en-us/articles/27434628661657-Storage-capacity-for-NVRs

I will confirm with the engineers if maintaining the recordings is at all possible and advise.

Dear Support Team,
I am also experiencing a similar issue with the HDD upgrade from the following models QRN-420S/430S/1620S/1630S, XRN-3210B2, NVR.
i.e the existing HDD capacity is 4TB - 2 Nos. I just want to expand the CCTV footage retention period by upgrading the larger size compatible HDD.
Is there any way to retrieve the HDD footage in case of NVR HDD upgrade or NVR malfunction?
Thanks & regards
Santhosh

Hi Santosh,
Unfortunately if you want to upgrade the HDD there is no way to migrate the existing video to the new HDD.
Once the HDD is removed that video is then gone.
