Applies to All NVRs and DVRs for backing up.
If the NVR or DVR does not recognize the flash drive or HDD, you will need to format the device in FAT32.
Windows 10 does not offer FAT32 in the Disk Management, so you will need to use the command prompt.
- Open a command window by directly typing CDM in Windows 10 "Search the web and Windows" box.
- Type the command "format /FS:FAT32 H:" at the prompt. (H is the drive letter of your external hard drive in Windows 10. Replace "H" with the drive letter on your device.)
- Hit Enter. Windows 10 will go ahead and begin formatting the drive in FAT32.
Once the device is formatted in FAT32, connect the USB to the NVR or DVR and go into the Menu to Device\Storage\Device_Format and select the device to format, then click Format.
Now you should have a Flash drive or HDD that is able to be used for backing up an incident.
