Applies to: All NVRs and DVRs
Summary:
If your NVR or DVR does not recognize a flash drive or HDD connected to the system, you must format the device to the FAT32 File System on a PC. However, Windows 10 does not offer the FAT32 File System in the Disk Management tool, so you must use the command prompt to complete the format.
Step By Step Guide:
To format to FAT32 in Windows 10:
1. Enter CMD in the Windows 10 Search Windows box to open a command prompt.
2. Enter the following command: format /FS:FAT32 H: then press enter at the prompt.
NOTE: Replace H with the drive letter assigned to your PC.
Windows 10 will begin formatting the drive to FAT32.
3. When the device is formatted to FAT32, connect the USB drive to the NVR or DVR and navigate to Setup > Device > Storage device.
4. Select the device to format, then click Format.
Once the format is completed on the NVR, you should have a Flash drive or HDD that can be used for backing up or exporting an incident.
