Summary:
These instructions will show you how to delete a Virtual Disk in a Pre-Boot environment. Please note that this process will destroy ALL data on the Virtual Disk; do not proceed if this data is important to you.
Explanation of Behavior:
· If, at some point, you wish to increase or decrease the array's size. The only way to accomplish this is to break and re-create a new array with the desired attributes.
· A RAID puncture is often unrecoverable and requires deleting and rebuilding the array from scratch.
· You wish to change the RAID Type, say from RAID 5 to RAID 6
Step By Step:
1. Press the F2 key during the POST to open the System Setup menu. Or press the F10 key to open the Lifecycle Controller menu and select System Setup → Advanced Hardware Configuration.
2. On the System Setup Main Menu screen, click Device Settings
3. On the Device Settings screen, click the target RAID controller. After selecting the 14th generation system controller, select Main Menu on the Dashboard View.
4. Click Virtual Disk Management on the Main Menu screen.
5. Click the virtual disk to be deleted on the Virtual Disk Management screen.
6. Select Delete Virtual Disk from the Operation pull-down menu and click Go.
7. Read the warning displayed, select Confirm, and click Yes.
8. Click OK once the "The Operation has been performed successfully" message is displayed.
9. Ensure the deleted virtual disk is not listed on the Virtual Disk Management screen.
