1. Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) Configuration ?
- STP refers to a network protocol that logically maintains only one active connection in a duplex network and activates another connection only when it is recognized that the existing connection is broken.
2. Effects of STP Configuration
- It can logically prevent the loop topology by changing a specific port to a blocked state in the loop
topology network
-It can prevent repeated flooding of broadcasts on the network when it goes out of the loop topology.
-Since it is possible to change the route when the network connection in a direction is disconnected, the
maintenance is easy.
3. Problems without STP Configuration
-In the loop topology network, the switch repeats receiving the broadcast it has sent and sending the broadcast packet again
-Existing packets are continuously sent and received, and new packets from the device are also transmitted
- Explosive increase in the number of packets handled → Increase in CPU occupancy → Network overload → The network goes down
