The following settings should be applied to a server running RAID to ensure optimum operation with Wave. These settings should be applied before Wave is used to record cameras as these settings will format the RAID and delete all data from the RAID.
Firstly, log onto the MegaRAID application via the icon on the desktop.
Use the Windows credentials to log into MegaRAID and then log onto the server:
Under the Logical tab, click on Virtual Drive, ensure the RAID is set to Write Back:
By default the RAID constancy checks will be performed weekly, this can be reduced to monthly.
The RAID itself should be formatted with a 512KB sector size, this is done by right clicking on the drive in Windows Explorer and selecting Format. Select 512KB as the unit size and format the drive, this will delete all data from the drive.
Finally turn off indexing on the drive. Right click on the drive in Windows Explorer and select Properties and untick drive indexing:
Ensure you turn this off after you have formatted the drive and not before as this setting resets after the drive is formatted.
