This article outlines how to resolve a firmware update issue on a newly configured recorder
Users may receive the below error when attempting to update the firmware (software) version of a recorder - whether online, offline or via USB.
This occurs when no HDD has been placed inside the recorder.
The recorder's (flash) memory is small and not sufficient for firmware updates. Hence an HDD will be required to be placed inside (even if temporarily) to perform the firmware update successfully.
Once an HDD has been replaced, firmware update will proceed as expected.
If users are unable to physically check the recorder for HDDs, when logged in via a monitor or the web browser the HDD alarm or No HDD symbol will appear on the screen and will prompt the user.
