Issue Summary

You cannot access the Windows desktop when setting up a WAVE server for the first time. 

Resolution

To resolve the issue:

1. Safely rack mount the server without connecting power.
    
2. Select the DisplayPort or HDMI dongle from the included accessories bag for this model server.
    
3. Connect the appropriate dongle to the top port on the GPU card in the server's rear peripheral ports.
    
4. Connect the dongle to your monitor.
    
5. Connect both power cables.
    

6. Power on the server with the power button located in the front of the server (top right corner). 
   
   The server takes about 3 minutes to show the video. When you get the video, it will be on the Microsoft Out Of Box Experience screen.

   NOTE: In rare instances, the VGA port needs to be re-enabled in the BIOS.

Re-enable the VGA Port

If the server shows only a mouse pointer with no taskbar, Windows may detect the VGA monitor as an extended display, which does not show the taskbar. Plug the dongle into the top Mini DisplayPort to use the Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI dongle for an HDMI monitor.

NOTE: WAVE does not operate properly in a VGA environment. Improper scaling may 
cause the OK and Apply buttons to be cut off.

To re-enable the VGA port via BIOS:

1. Reboot the WAVE server.
    
2. Press F11 to access the Boot Menu.
    
3. Click Launch System Setup.
   
   
    
4. Find the Embedded Video Controller switch on the screen.
    
5. Select the Disabled radio button.
   
   
    
6. Follow the on-screen steps to save the changes.
    
7. Reboot the WAVE Server.
