This article explains how to replace the backplane of a WRR-5501.

Replacing the Back Plane

Fan Assembly Removal

To remove the fan assembly:

1. Remove the fan bracket assembly from the chassis.
   
   
2. Unfasten the blue thumbscrews on the left and right sides.
   
   
3. Slide the assembly toward the arrows to disengage the assembly from the chassis slide lock.
   
   
   
   
   
4. Remove fan headers from the backplane. Each header will be labeled. Make sure when
   re-installing to put it back in the correct header.
   
   
5. Remove the two screws shown below to remove the backplane.
   
   
6. Note the dip switch settings on the old backplane and match them with the replacement backplane.
   
   
7. Install the new backplane. Make sure that the screws, sliders, and fans are connected correctly and securely.
